Nicole Koontz, LMHC, R-DMT

  • As a licensed mental health clinician with a strong foundation in both outpatient and acute mental health settings, I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and families navigating emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges. I have extensive experience treating trauma, mood disorders, suicidal ideation, and self-harming behaviors. I integrate trauma-informed, person-centered care with skill-based interventions to support clients managing depression, anxiety, grief, and emotional regulation challenges.

  • I am trained in the ARC (Attachment, Regulation, and Competency) framework, which emphasizes healing through relationship-building, emotional regulation, and identity development. I prioritize utilizing Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and provide applicable DBT-based skills that translate into the home and other environments. I also offer dance/movement therapy to provide creative, body-based avenues for expression and healing.

  • Having worked alongside several notable professionals and organizations in the Boston area, I understand the nuances of navigating different levels of care. I value clear communication and strong collaboration during transitions into and out of treatment, ensuring families feel supported every step of the way. My work extends beyond the therapy room through active coordination with schools and other care providers. I help create individualized school plans and equip caregivers with applicable strategies they can use at home to reinforce therapeutic progress.

  • If we begin working together, you will hear about my black cat Po’boy (who is actually a girl). In my free time, I enjoy dancing, going on walks, spending time with friends, and trying new recipes at home. I can’t wait to meet you!
